The iAD12016A008V provides a non-isolated, SIP, through hole mounting device, which has DOSA compatible pin out. As a POL (point of load) converter the iAD addresses a broad range of applications from telecom through industrial equipments.

TDK's new Quarter Brick Converter has high, flat efficiency curve

TDK Innoveta Inc. launches a new range of quarter brick DC-DC converters. With very high operating efficiency over a wide range of load conditions, the iQE series has been designed to meet the growing customer demand for improved efficiency under all normal operating load conditions. With a broad range of output voltages and providing high power ratings, these DC-DC converters are ideal for engineers seeking excellent efficiency, optimal thermal performance and 24V or 48V power architectures for industrial, telecom, datacom, access, wireless and many other applications.

TDK’s new single output iQE series are rated at up to 204W, and are offered with two input voltage ranges, 18 - 36V or 36 – 75V. Throughout the single board construction, particular attention has been made to the overall thermal design including component height, location and orientation. As a result iQE family is compatible with all cooling strategies, including contact, convection and forced air and offers outstanding thermal performance for cooler operation, allowing the user to implement simpler and lower cost mechanical assemblies.

Following on from the successful TDK Innoveta iQB range of quarter brick converters, the low component count on the iQE DC-DC converters, coupled to planar magnetics provides higher reliability and a more cost effective solution than many other modules on the market.

The TDK Innoveta iQE Series of DC/DC power modules features DOSA compatible footprint & trim, fixed frequency operation and low output noise providing the ideal solution for powering a broad range of applications including RF, DPA, POLs, FPGA, ASIC, DSP, microprocessors, access, optical and industrial loads.

Further, the input is fully isolated from the output adding to the iQE’s versatility by allowing different output polarity and grounding connectivity. Standard features include remote sense, remote on/off, and auto-recovery of input under voltage, output over voltage, output over current and over temperature protection circuitry. Positive polarity on/off is offered as an option.

iQE converters are approved to a wide range of national and international standards, including UL, CSA, EN, CE and VDE, making it simple for users to obtain regulatory approval for equipment which incorporates them, even when it is to be sold in multiple markets around the world

TDK Extends Sixteenth Brick DC/DC Power Modules Line-Up

TDK Innoveta Inc. has strengthened the recent iSA series of 1/16 Brick DC/DC Power Modules by adding to the range of low output voltage products offered. The new 3.3V/25A (82.5W), 5V/15A (75W) and 12V/6.5A (78W) devices provide exceptional thermal performance using the industry standard DOSA 1/16 brick footprint which is 44% smaller than eighth bricks. Providing higher power ratings, these DC-DC converters are ideal for engineers seeking to save space, improve thermal performance and reduce system cost in 48V power architectures for telecom, datacom, access, wireless and many other applications.

The unique stacked 2 board construction of the iSA Series Sixteenth brick converter family offers superior thermal performance and cooler operation due to the heat dissipating components being on the upper most board, and this being raised into such ambient air flow as is present. This construction also minimizes any airflow 'shadowing' effects, resulting in a thermal performance that exceeds that of larger footprint eighth brick devices.

TDK Innoveta compliments the current family of DOSA footprint, surface mount, point of load converters (POLS) with the addition of the latest product , the iBC convters.

With an output current rating of 7A, output voltage trim range of 0.8 to 5.5V and power rating of 35W this versatile product will be suitable for a wide range of applications.Featuring an extremely wide input voltage range of 6 to 14V, and industry leading efficiency of 93% the iBC is particularly suited to distributed power architectures using ATCA, semi regulated and divide by 4 or 5 bus converter architectures.


Benefiting from a low component count, the high reliability iBC will enable users to realize cost effective multi-output voltage systems. The iBC sequencing feature allows a controlled power up and with its ability to start with the output pre-biased facilitates powering the whole range of loads including ASICS, FGPA, and microprocessors.

The 12V nominal input voltage iBC 7A coupled with the iAC 16A rated products, compliment the 3V and 5V input voltage iBA 8A and iAA 15A converters providing users with a good selection of products to address the gamut of distributed power architectures, as well as single output demand applications. TDK launches DC/DC Power Modules with improved thermal performance
in a 44% smaller footprint


Sixteenth Brick DC/DC Power Modules save space and cost

TDK has today launched its Belleta iSA Series of 1/16 Brick DC/DC Power Modules which provide better thermal performance than many eighth brick converters, in a much reduced footprint. The industry standard footprint (DOSA) DC-DC converters are ideal for engineers seeking to save space and cost in 48V distributed power architecture for telecom, datacom and many other applications.

The Belleta iSA Series Sixteenth brick converter family eliminates hot spots and offers better cooling, thanks to its multilayer design. The two-board implementation keeps the control circuitry on the lower part of the board, and the power dissipating components on the upper board.

Thus, the hottest components are raised above surrounding low-level devices, providing substantially better cooling than when the converter is the same height as the surrounding low profile components. Furthermore, the multilayer, heavy copper upper board, effectively spreads such heat as is dissipated, eliminating hot spots.

The sixteenth brick power module has a 44% smaller footprint than eighth brick converters, freeing up valuable space on the PCB. This means that engineers can benefit from increased equipment functionality. And at only 12.4mm tall, the power module is comparable in height to the electrolytic capacitors and magnetic component associated with most applications.

As well as being significantly smaller than eighth brick power modules, the Belleta iSA Series DC/DC power module is the highest power rated sixteenth brick currently available. It boasts a wide input range (48Vnom, 36-75V), and a broad range of outputs (1V2 – 15V, 3 – 25A, up to 78W total power).

TDK Reveals new Components at Electronica 2004


TDK will be exhibiting at Electronica 2004 - Hall B6, Stand 305 - a selection of its newest passive components ideal for a variety of applications ideal for Automotive, Telecommunication, Home Appliance and Audio-Video applications. [ Press Release ]

With its wide input range from 6 to 14V the iAD is particularly well suited for powering today's diverse range of loads in a variety of architectures including distributed power, for example regulated 9V or 12V bus rails, and non regulated 4:1 & 5:1 bus converter systems. Furthermore, its broad output adjustment range from 0.8V to 5.5V, its maximum output power of 80W and its ability to start into a pre-biased load make it especially useful in ASIC/FPGA and other applications where multiple voltages can be present.

Special attention has been paid to the electrical design to gain a high power conversion efficiency of up to 94%. Combined with careful component layout, this allows the iAD to provide better thermal performance than many similar devices. This enables the user to benefit from higher output power for a given thermal environment, or lower thermal stress for the same output power. Using proven circuitry, the low component count provides greater reliability and a more cost-effective solution than other modules on the market.

The TDK Innoveta iAD POL converter's standard features include fixed frequency operation, remote sense, remote on/off, flexible sequencing, auto-recovery of input under voltage and output over current protection circuitry. Negative polarity on/off, no sequencing and short 0.13" (3.3mm) pins are offered as options. TDK Innoveta's entire range of POL converters are RoHS compliant.

Safety approvals include UL60950 (U.S. and Canada), VDE 0805, CB scheme (IEC950), and CE Mark (EN60950).
